Streak — habit tracker spreadsheet

Habits down the side, days across the top, a mark when you did it. Done counts, a monthly target scaled from your weekly one, completion bars, weekends shaded. Pro adds current and best streaks with the running count on its own sheet, a by-week view, and a formulas walkthrough. No macros.

The sheets

  1. 01
    Month

Eight habits × 31 days. Any mark counts. Done, monthly target (weekly target scaled to the month), done % with a bar, per-day totals, month completion. Days past the month's end greyed.

    Free + Pro
  2. 02
    Streaks

One more than yesterday if marked, back to zero if not — the whole grid, so the streak arithmetic is visible. Current streak reads the last marked day; best is the max.

    Pro
  3. 03
    Weeks

Done per habit per week of the month against the weekly target: green when met, yellow when short.

    Pro
  4. 04
    Setup

Month and habits with weekly targets.

  5. 05
    Formulas

Eight formulas explained, including the 'last marked day' trick without array-entered formulas.

Built for

  • Excel 2016+
  • Google Sheets
  • Numbers

Every workbook is recalculated in LibreOffice and by a second, independent formula engine on the sample data; the totals are compared with numbers worked out outside any spreadsheet, and every formula cell is scanned for errors. We don't run Excel itself on the build machine, so this says built for, not tested in — open the live preview to see the numbers the formulas produce.

A grid that counts itself

Put anything in a cell — a 1, an x, a tick — and it counts. Leave it empty and it doesn’t. Each habit has a weekly target; the sheet scales it to the month (3 a week in a 31-day month is 13) and shows done against it with a bar. Weekends are shaded so a run of blanks on Saturday makes sense; days past the end of a short month are greyed.

Pro: streaks you can see being computed

The Streaks sheet holds a running count for every cell: one more than the day before if marked, zero if not. Current streak is the value on the last day you marked anything — found with SUMPRODUCT(MAX(…)) rather than an array formula, so it works in Excel 2016 and Numbers — and best streak is the row’s maximum. The Weeks sheet breaks the month into weeks against the weekly target.

Checked, not just built

The build recalculates the workbook in LibreOffice and in a second, independent engine on the sample marks and compares fourteen values — done counts, scaled targets, current and best streaks for a habit with a gap and one without, the week splits — against numbers computed outside Excel.
