A tracker that tells you who to nudge
A job search is a pipeline you don’t control, and the one thing you can control is
following up. Every row has a last-contact date and a next step with a date; the Action
column says Do it when that date arrives, Nudge when nothing has happened for a week, Wait
otherwise, Closed when it’s over. The top of the sheet keeps the score: active, interviews,
offers, and a response rate that counts rejections as responses — because they are.
Pro: the funnel
Pipeline counts applications at each stage, how many got at least that far, and the
conversion between stages — Applied → Screening, Screening → Interview, Interview → Offer —
plus interviews by source, so you can see whether referrals or job boards actually convert.
Follow-ups lists the Do-it and Nudge rows with a plain INDEX/MATCH on numbered helper
columns, the same trick our checklist uses instead of FILTER.
Checked, not just built
The build recalculates both workbooks in LibreOffice and in a second, independent engine and
compares thirty-six values — days and actions on the sample rows, the summary, stage counts
and conversion rates, the source table, the Follow-ups lists row by row — against numbers
computed outside Excel.
