A portfolio website builder that hands you the files
A portfolio needs one page that shows the work, says who you are and gives people a way to write to you. This builder starts you with exactly those sections — work, about, services, a contact form — with sample copy written for a designer, so you replace words rather than stare at blanks.
What a portfolio page gets
A work section in three layouts — a three-column grid, a two-wide grid for pieces that need room, or a list with year and category for a longer record. Each item has a title, a category, one line about it, an image URL and a link; leave the image empty and a labelled placeholder holds the space until you have the photo.
An about section with a portrait slot and a facts list (based, since, typical project, availability), services as cards or a compact price list, testimonials, and a contact form that posts to any form service — Formspree, Netlify Forms, your own endpoint — because the export is static HTML with no backend of its own.
Why not a hosted portfolio builder
Hosted portfolio tools are good at photos and bad at leaving. The page lives on their plan; the export, if there is one, is a zip of images. Here the page is index.html and one stylesheet in a folder: put it on GitHub Pages or Netlify for free, on your own domain, and it costs nothing a year later. The markup is hand-written Tailwind, so a developer friend — or you, after a guide — can change anything.
It is deliberately a single page. If your portfolio needs case-study pages with their own URLs, the Grove template is the same code with two case-study layouts and an about page.
The five styles
The same sections in six visual systems: a clean default, a raw grid with hard rules, an editorial broadsheet with a serif, a soft rounded one, a dark one, and a 1970s annual report on warm paper. Switching keeps your copy. For a portfolio the broadsheet and the raw grid are the two that make photographers and designers look like they meant it.
Open the landing page builder — free export, no account. Pro removes the credit line for a one-off $9.
Questions
Can I upload images?
Not through the builder — nothing is uploaded anywhere. Paste image URLs (from your host, Cloudinary, an S3 bucket), or export first and drop the files into the folder, then edit the src attributes.
Does the contact form work?
It is a plain HTML form. Set the action to a form service endpoint and it works; without one, it does nothing, which is honest.
Is the free export enough?
Yes — it is the full page with a one-line "Built with Foldout" credit in the footer. Pro removes it and adds the Tailwind source, for a one-off $9.
Can I switch to the SaaS or restaurant layout later?
Yes, from the page-type selector, but it replaces the copy on the page — export first if you want to keep what you wrote.
